HARLAN, Iowa (KMTV) — The $28 million measure to update a middle and high school in Harlan, Iowa is not moving forward.

Harlan voters rejected the bond proposal Tuesday night. According to the district, both the middle and high school were built in the 1960s and were built to last for just 30 years.

The district say a remodel would have cost about half as much as building new schools.
