The owner of a small ranch in Dodge County says a thief has cut hair from another one of his miniature horses.

The additional theft occurred Thursday night, Bruce Tompkins said.

He and Vickie Tompkins spoke with KMTV on Wednesday after they discovered two of their horses were missing hair on their tails.

Bruce Tompkins warns other horse owners to be alert.

“We don’t know who would do it, but if you look on the Internet, and Facebook and all these, where people are, they’re selling horse hair for $400 a pound. So, you know, it’s something that everybody that’s got horses really needs to watch their horses and see what’s going on,” Bruce Tompkins said.

The Tompkins say they reported the thefts to the sheriff’s office, but they’re upset because the animals are left defenseless to flies and insects in the summer.

They say the hair will take years to grow back.
