When Ollie the Trolley showed up at doorsteps on Thanksgiving Day, riders could expect a special invite.

St. Peter Catholic Church and Kountze Memorial Lutheran Church partnered again to serve hundreds of people living with challenges for a Thanksgiving meal.

We created a party atmosphere here, it's almost more like a wedding than a Thanksgiving dinner, said Kevin Englekamp of St. Peter Catholic Church.

It's an atmosphere complete with decor, entertainment, and food. The space looked more like an intimate dinner setting and hardly resembled what is normally a gymnasium.

Yes, that's the best part of it, said Elizabeth Rodriguez.

She said it looked more like a restaurant.

From food to fellowship, the setting is everything you need to make a holiday meal feel like Thanksgiving.

In return, thankfulness overflowed from the room.

"I'm thankful to have a roof over my head, said Pivaelle Smith. "Thankful for everybody in this facility right now."

Everyone is enjoying themselves, Smith said.

But both churches will tell you, thank you's aren't needed.

"It's about joy," said Englekamp. "We spread the joy that we have to everybody else."
