Liv Candler is in her second year of taking Chinese. She told us, "I think Chinese class has helped me a lot to learn how to write." She takes the class on Saturday afternoons at UNO.

Teacher Liqing Guo says she works to tailor the lessons to the students. "Ask myself, what is fun for the age group like this? For ages 7 or 8 they may like the sounds, movements, stories and how to input my teaching content into that."

Dr. Christoper Heselton is the associate director of the Confucius Institute at UNL. He says, "these classes are intended to teach children about a different part of the world, how they see things, what they believe in and the way they celebrate or how they express their emotions."
