LINCOLN, Neb. (KMTV) — Nebraska Department of Corrections says an inmate at the Community Corrections Center-Lincoln sent a staff member to a local hospital with a serious injury Wednesday evening.
Around 6:30 p.m., the inmate pushed several inmates from the back before running up to the staff member, pushing her, and then causing the front of her head to strike a window. The staff member was sent to a local hospital with a broken tooth, according to the Department of Correctional Services.
Another staff member deployed pepper spray while other staffers retained the inmate who continued to fight back. The inmate was eventually brought under control and admitted to staff he was using K2, which is often referred to as synthetic marijuana.
The incident will be investigated with findings provided to the county attorney to determine criminal prosecution.
