Iowa Representatives Cindy Axne and Abby Finkenhour back bill to prevent government shutdowns.
The Shutdown to End All Shutdowns (SEAS) Act would automatically trigger a 30-day continuing resolution if Congress fails to pass a full year appropriations bill by the end of the fiscal year. It would also hit politicians in their pocket book by cutting pay for Congress members and senior, executive branch staff members.
Backers say the SEAS Act would keep tax-funded services open and government employees paid in the event of a shutdown as well.
