Pre-school teachers are known for giving gifts to their students, however one Iowa teacher is definitely going above and beyond.

Nancy Bleuer is donating her kidney to one of her student's fathers.

She heard about Darreld Peterson's battle with renal kidney failure, and got tested.

Now the transplant surgery is set for next week.

"I remembered on my bucket list that I've wanted to do this," said Nancy Bleuer, who is giving her kidney to her student's father. "You don't think about it every day but I just kind of remembered, oh yeah that's on the list."

"I was shocked; I wasn't shocked it was going to happen because she's such a determined woman," said Darreld Petersen, kidney recipient. "From day one she's like this is happening."

Peterson said he always valued the role teachers played in his family's life, but never expected it to include anything like this.
