A jury found Jamar Milton guilty of second degree murder.

Milton shot and killed Jamymell Ray after a drug set up in Miller Park in June 2015.

The deputy county attorney says it is likely Milton will spend at least 50 years in prison.

Since Milton was only 17 at the time of the shooting Deputy County Attorney Jim Masteller says Milton will not have a mandatory life sentence.

Milton was also charged with first degree assault in use of a deadly weapon to commit a felony against Charles Fisher.

Fisher was in the car with Ray but survived.

Masteller says this was a case the jury struggled with, seeing three young kids commit a crime over just an ounce of marijuana.

“Cases like this present special challenges, in this case we were dealing with defendants who were very young as I said ages 12, 15 and 17,” Masteller said.

“Not only were they young, but they look very young, jurors had to wrestle with that to reach their verdict," Masteller continued.

Milton’s family was at the courthouse again Thursday very emotional over the outcome and did not want to speak on camera.

Shuntayvious Primes-Willis who was with Milton that day is serving a 30 year sentence.

A 12 year old was sentenced by a juvenile judge to Boys Town for his role in the crime.

Milton will be sentenced February 15th
