ELKHORN, Neb. (KMTV) — Some grad students are pulling an all-nighter tonight , but not studying. They're playing volleyball.

The UNMC and Creighton physical therapy departments teamed up for the 25th annual Joint Effort volleyball tournament, an all-night tournament that goes from 6 p.m. until 6 a.m.

"If you're a volleyball fanatic like me and all of these crazy people this is awesome," said Caitlyn Rueth, a participant in the event.

With a unique overnight format the athletes are hitting the caffeine hard, with most saying they were planning to drink energy drinks to stay awake.

The event is a fundraiser for the Nebraska Arthritis Foundation with a goal of raising between $3,000 and $4,000 from this year's tournament.

"As physical therapists arthritis is an issue we see over and over and to give money back is what we wanted to do," said Andy Chleborad, one of the events co-organizers.

"I have family, aunts, uncles, grandparents that were affected so I'd love to help," said Lauren Booth, a Creighton student and participant.

The athletes plan on playing all night long and when they say all night long they mean it.

"All night long," Chleborad said. "We ain't stopping."
