Two police officers in La Vista were honored Tuesday night.
The city honored Josh McNeil and Brad Wood with "The Lifesaving Award." In April, McNeil and Wood responded to an opioid overdose call. The pair used a defibrillator and CPR to help the 19-year-old until paramedics got to the scene.
"I mean like I said before, to go from someone who wasn't breathing on their own, and you couldn't detect a pulse to awake and talking and even walking at one point was just amazing," Wood said.
Wood also added they used the medicine Narcan to block the effects of the opioid. The overdose victim was up and walking in a matter of 10 minutes.
