OMAHA, Neb. (KMTV) — For individuals that qualify, the Nebraska Department of Revenue says the final day to apply for homestead exemption is approaching fast.
Those interested need to fill out the Nebraska Homestead Exemption Application, Form 458 with their county assessor "on or before June 30, 2019. Since June 30, 2019 falls on a Sunday in 2019, the application must be filed on or before Monday July 1, 2019."
Those who qualify may be eligible for exemption of all or a portion of their property taxes for their homes.
They say the following people may be eligible:
- Persons over the age of 65
- Qualified disabled individuals
- Qualified disabled veterans and their widow(er)s
