On Tuesday, senators debated the biggest issue they’ll deal with in this short session: the budget.

Many senators attached amendments as debate moved forward.

Gov. Pete Ricketts’ proposal would cut state agencies by 4-percent however the appropriations committee lowered that number to 2-percent and the University of Nebraska system to 1-percent.

Perhaps one of the biggest topics was the possible elimination of Title X funding from to entities that perform, counsel or refer abortions such as Planned Parenthood.

Senators will be debating the budget late into the night and possibly later this week if a vote is not taken.
