The Lincoln City Council approved an ordinance to allow police to stop drone operations Monday Night.
Council members voted 4-2 to allow police to stop drone operators who are flying recklessly, outside the operator's line of sight, or without proper registration and markings. Council members who opposed the ordinance say it's over-regulation because drones are already regulated by the FAA. Supporters say it gives police the ability to interfere in unsafe situations.
The Lincoln Airport Authority asked for a city ordinance to restrict drone activity during an airshow in May.
