OMAHA, Neb. (KMTV) — This was the fourth time a Nebraska brewery won the gold since the competition started in 1982.

Omaha's Brickway Brewery and Distillery was awarded a gold medal for their entry into the Great American Beer Festival's Chili Beer beer-style category with their Jalapeño Pineapple Pilsner.

Brickway Brewery and Distillery President Zac Triemert says they were happy to accept the honor at the competition in Denver.

“It truly is an honor to be recognized by the Brewers Association for being only the fourth beer in the history of the State of Nebraska to be chosen as a gold medal winning beer. With the competition we all face throughout the craft beer industry, bringing home a gold medal to the State of Nebraska and all of the local brewers and home brewers is really special.” said Zac Triemert, President at Brickway.

More than 2,000 breweries took part in the competition which took place on October 5 which featured "107 beer categories covering 174 different beer styles."
