OMAHA, Neb. (KMTV) — The debate over gun control took center stage in an Omaha park this weekend.

A group of Mom's and students rallied at Memorial Park to remember the victims of recent gun violence.

Organizers also called on lawmakers to pass what they call common sense gun reform.

"We don't want to take your guns away. That's not a realistic approach, we don't want to do that," said Megan Gentrup, leader of Nebraska Mom's Demand Action. "There's law abiding gun owners out there, we have some in our group, but we know it's about the access to guns, and if they have solutions that they say 'oh that law isn't going to work' then what is the solution? If we prevent one gun death, then let's explore that. Until then, we're going to keep bringing our solutions to them."

Organizers say they want America's leaders to support a strong federal red flag bill and background check requirement.
