PAPILLION, Neb. — A lost dog rarely garners enough attention to spur a news story, but when a whole community comes together to find it, it creates a special kind of story. This one is about the power of people coming together.

Christy Novotny showed us a spot in her fence that had broken. She thinks her Boxer named Hailey got out of the yard while chasing a rabbit. She ended up on the busiest street in Papillion--Cornhusker Road.

Novotny took to Facebook. She even created a page to find Hailey. The community responded. A line of people came out to help.

"To see those cars line up on Cornhusker. Everybody saw the Facebook page and ran out with their food to help me catch her. I have never seen that kind of love in my life, ever. And that's the whole point of this, it's that people need to know that there is love out there," Novotny said, "I knew at that moment when I saw everybody lined up on Cornhusker, and I was out there in the field by myself, I knew she was coming home."

And after a six-day adventure, Hailey did come home.

Novotny told us, "I'm never letting her out of my sight again. Never, ever, ever."
