SAUNDERS COUNTY, Neb. (KMTV) — On the evening of Thanksgiving near Wahoo, Gene Lefler, 65, left his vehicle to check on another driver when a semi lost control and jackknifed on a viaduct, throwing Lefler from the top.
The Saunders County Sheriff's Office and the Wahoo Police Department responded to the crash involving four passenger vehicles and a semi at 6:19 p.m. Thursday.
Police say the crash occurred on Hwy 77, west of Wahoo.
Lefler went to check on another driver; however, a northbound semi lost control on the icy viaduct, jackknifed and struck the viaduct, throwing Lefler off the top.
Lefler was transported to Saunders Medical Center and later taken to Bryan West in Lincoln where he was pronounced dead, according to police.
No other injuries were reported.
