Match day brings excitement to Med Students

Friday is a big day across the country for thousands of medical students.
Match day is the day when med students across the country learn where they will go for their residency training.
More than a hundred med students will pack into a room at their school, then open an envelope with the hospital and residency program they've picked.

Last year about half of UNMC students stayed in Nebraska, the rest spread across 28 other states. 155 Creighton Medical students matched with residencies in 30 states last year.

It's something that really warms your heart. A lot of these doctors have personal stories as to why they're pursuing medicine. Fro example, Marshall Bahr, a former combat medic who served in Baghdad. In 2014 he was matched to the University of Pittsburg Medical Center.

Everyone does it at the exact same time across the country, at 11:00AM CST Friday.
