Memorial Park lighting display plays tribute to veterans

Posted

Omaha’s Memorial Park is honoring veterans and thanking them for their sacrifices with a special lighting tribute.

The Omaha Parks and Recreation Department held its Second Annual Veterans Shine On lighting ceremony on Wednesday evening, which was well attended by veterans, their families, and those that just wanted to say thank-you.

Mayor Jean Stothert, as well as other speakers spoke to guests, thanking veterans for their sacrifices in light of Veteran’s Day, which is on Saturday.

The National Patriot Guard rode to Memorial Park to celebrate veterans, and also stood in flag line during the lighting.

The event had music by the Creighton Prep Chamber Choir and hot cocoa for those in attendance.

The lighting display will be at Memorial Park until January.
