Memorial Park is Omaha's home to event on Memorial Day, Fourth of July and September 11, among others, to show appreciation for the men and women who have served our country.
The aging monuments, however, are in need of repair. With a close look patrons can see bricks falling apart and cracks in the structures.
The city council has approved $100,000 for the project, but Mayor Jean Stothert still has until next Tuesday to veto that allocation.
Stothert does not want public money to go to the project because she says a private donor wants to pay for it.
