COUNCIL BLUFFS, Iowa (KMTV) — Pam Lauck has been waiting nearly a year to hug her mom, Ruth.

After a year of separation due to the pandemic, there's no better gift than finally reuniting on Mother's Day.

It's a years worth of missed hugs, laughs and love wrapped into a single embrace.

The moment even more special as Ruth remembered her daughter, a reality many families face as our loved ones get older.

"It's hard to deal with," Lauck said. "I mean you miss them. I live along ways away and it's a horrible feeling, but we talk on the phone so we know that helps but nothing is as good as getting a hug."

Like family does, the mother-daughter duo picked up where they left off. Pam was quickly reminded of her mother's infectious laugh.

The family sat and listened to Ruth shares stories of their life, stories her daughters will cling onto.

"It's just the best of everything," Lauck said. "I'm a mom to and getting to be with my mom and getting too be with my sisters that are both moms... it's the best you can have."

Ruth has been living at CountryHouse Residence in Council Bluffs, IA.

Pam traveled from Arizona to be with her mom on Mother's day.
