NE Task Force 1 on standby for Irma

LINCOLN, Neb. (KMTV)  Southeast Texas and Louisiana grabbed the nation's attention with Hurricane Harvey and now all eyes are on Florida and Hurricane Irma, landing on radars belonging to state rescuers.

About 80 members from the Nebraska Task Force 1 returned to Lincoln from their long deployment in Texas Wednesday afternoon.

The rescuers helped roughly 1,500 people trapped by floodwaters from Harvey.

However, the trip home might be short-lived for some, according a captain with the Omaha Fire Dept.

"We have a lot of guys who are chomping at the bit. So, it's come back, recharge, reload - redeploy and be ready to go at a moment's notice," David Kirchofer told 3 News Now.
