After a three year review, the American College of Surgeons has given Nebraska Medicine recognition as a Level I trauma center.
With this year's expansion, the hospital has added enough manpower and space to care for 10,000 additional patients every year.
Level I trauma centers give the highest level of surgical care to patients and are expected to be open, with a full-range of specialists and equipment, for 24 hours a day.
