The Nebraska Department of Correctional Services says a staff member at the Nebraska State Penitentiary was attacked by an inmate on Sunday.
In a press release, officials said the staff member went to the hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening.
"Assault on Nebraska Department of Correctional Services staff will not be tolerated. As always, NDCS will investigate the incident and submit our findings to the local district attorney for prosecution," NDCS said in a statement.
No other details were released.
This is just the latest of incidents in the prison system.
Earlier this month, inmates at the Tecumseh State Prison were accused of attacking three staff members.
