LINCOLN, Neb. — Nebraska State Senator Machaela Cavanaugh posted a photo on Facebook Tuesday night of her sitting on the floor of the unicameral. She's draped in a gray cover breastfeeding her baby.
Sen. Cavanaugh wrote that her staff told her she's the first state senator to nurse on the floor of the unicameral in state history. She said she brought her son Barrett (who she jokingly referred to as #bipartisanbarrett) because of the inclement weather.
According to her website, she and her husband have three children. Barrett is six months old.
