The Nebraska Tourism commission went into executive session across from Lincoln Friday morning to figure out what to do with executive director Kathy Mckillip.

When they immerged, they unanimously suspended her with pay. One commissioner abstained. She will have to turn in her keys and can’t have physical or electronic access to the tourism offices.

Just two weeks ago, an audit discovered the tourism commission, paid a speaker $40,000 for a one and a half hour speech.

$18,000 for an employee to move about 200 miles, and mismanaged a contract with an ad agency that went 4-million dollars over budget.

The governor called for her resignation, since the agency is run by an independent board and doesn’t report to him.

He says Mckillip even asked for more money to patch a budget hole.

The commission also took action to change their policy for watching their finances.
