Nebraska State Treasurer Don Stenberg is warning the state of LinkedIn scam.
“The fraudulent LinkedIn account came to our attention on Friday, and, as of Tuesday morning, has been taken down. The Nebraska State Patrol has been notified,” Treasurer Stenberg said Tuesday.
The fake LinkedIn account was impersonating the Treasurer and it was contacting people about unclaimed property.
The account reached 350 followers before it was removed Monday and it actively emailing and reaching out people on LinkedIn. It included a biography of the Treasurer but the messages it was sending awkwardly worded and contained poor grammar.
