New apartment complex upsets Midtown neighborhood

Last week, we told you about a Midtown neighborhood upset over plans for apartment complex going in off Saddle Creek and Pacific.

Bluestone Development wants to build 134 new apartments and 24 row homes in the Morton Meadows neighborhood to replace an old building that's been sitting there for years.

However, the new idea is coming with concerns from residents in the area. And one concern trumps all, parking, which was what the residents were most vocal about at a meeting Tuesday night.

Bluestone says the apartment's indoor garage will have 62 parking stalls and 111 surface parking spots, but those in the area say it won't be nearly enough and there is a parking issue as is.

Donna Collins owns the daycare that will sit right next to the new apartments, she says the busy street is always a concern and this complex would just add more traffic in the area.

Neighbors also voiced concerns over the look of the new apartments, the building will be four stories high, and they say they moved to the area for the old town feel.
