TD Ameritrade founder Joe Ricketts plans to open a new high school in Bellevue in August.
NGL Academy will start taking applications Thursday for it's first freshman class. The school will operate on the Bellevue University campus. NGL Academy is being developed by Opportunity Education, a non-profit which Ricketts founded in 2005. Opportunity Education has helped open schools in 11 countries and in California.
The school which would be among the nation's first to use the Next Generation Learning curriculum, and the focus will not be on testing, but helping students become self-educators.
