Mother of the Year may sound like a lofty title but every year a Nebraska woman is awarded this honor and chosen to take part in the American Mother Convention in Washington, D.C.
They are currently accepting nominations. Anyone can nominate someone and it's easy, you just need to write a couple sentences explaining why you think they are "Mother of the Year." Just go to this web site and hit "Nominate" on the bottom of the screen. They are looking for nominations in every state so this is not unique to Nebraska.
The American Mothers organization sponsor Mother's Day and grew out of an idea from Eleanor Roosevelt. The annual convention celebrates mom and the group focuses on service and education.
The Nebraska Chapter hosts an essay contest for kids, supports charities and they fight human trafficking through education and awareness efforts.
We will introduce you to past Nebraska Mothers of the Year on Upfront at 4 p.m. Video of that story will be available later tonight.
