NORTH PLATTE, Neb. (KMTV) — Yesterday, the Nebraska State Patrol says they recovered 32 pounds of marijuana, 800 THC vape cartridges and multiple types of controlled pills during two traffic stops on I-80.
The first search and seizure came after a trooper saw a driver speeding just after 1 a.m. near York, Nebraska.
After initiating a stop, a K9 detected the odor of a controlled substance and a search was carried out. 26-year-old Aaron Braun and Kristofor Cooks, both of Wisconsin, were arrested for possession of marijuana - more than one pound, possession with intent to deliver and no drug tax stamp. Both were lodged in York County Jail.
The second stop happened near North Platte just before 8 a.m. and occurred after another trooper observed a Ford F-250 with a license plate violation. During the stop, a K9 unit detected a controlled substance and a search was carried out.
The Nebraska State Patrol says the search revealed 14 pounds of marijuana, drug paraphernalia and multiple types of controlled pills.
The driver, 32-year-old Keith Cerney of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, was arrested for possession of marijuana – more than one pound, possession with intent to deliver, possession of controlled substances, possession of drug paraphernalia, and no drug tax stamp. Cerney was lodged in Lincoln County Jail.
