The Cass County Sheriff’s Department sent out a community alert Tuesday afternoon, warning residents of a recent increase of vehicle break-ins and vandalism.

Lt. Larry Burke says there have been at least twenty incidents in the last week, most of them in Cedar Creek and Weeping Water.

Police believe the break-ins are occurring mid morning and are being executed by multiple suspects.

Burke says they’ve also seen vandalism at cemeteries and have responded to calls of mailboxes being smashed with a bat.

“They’re hitting residential communities where vehicles are left unlocked and garages are left open,” says Burke.

Police have two potential suspects, but need additional information from victims and witnesses.

The Cass County Sheriff’s Dept. says it’s crucial for residents to report information on any suspicious activity in a timely manner.

If anyone has information or has been a victim of these crimes, call the Cass County Sheriff’s Department at 402-296-9370.
