Officials investigating possible cougar sighting in Omaha

A cougar may have been spotted in Omaha, near 114th Street and Pacific.

The Nebraska Humane Society says it received a call overnight about an apparent cougar in the Tomlinson Woods area.

The Humane Society says it has forwarded the call to Nebraska Game and Parks, which is better equipped to handle a predatory wildlife, like a cougar.

Neighbors in the area say wildlife, such as coyotes and ducks, are not uncommon. A cougar would be rare, but at least one has been spotted near the area in previous years.

The Nebraska Game and Parks service sent a biologist to the area of 114th and Pacific.  After investigating, the biologist did not find any evidence of a mountain lion there.  The report still remains "unconfirmed."
