Cindy Hoover was ready for a fresh start.
"I was just ready to say, 'enough is enough',” said Hoover, the owner of All About Me boutique in the Old Market.
The boutique was closed for over a month, after the fire at M's Pub just across the street damaged the store.
The merchandise was smoke damaged, and unsalvagable.
Now, the boutique is good as new.
"The damaged merchandise went away, it's all fresh,” Hoover said.
Brand new clothes and accessories fill the racks, but the view across the street is a constant reminder that the rebuilding is not over.
"It's very depressing to look right across to see that,” Adele hansen, a sales associate at All About Me, said.
Hansen was working at All About Me, when the explosion occurred.
"I think it's very devestating what happened out here, too many people lost their homes, their jobs,” Hansen said.
Most of the block is empty. Many shops remain closed, but All About Me hopes to make a statement by being open.
"I think when they see the yellow tape, when they see streets blocked off and they can't park, they just assume everybody's closed," Hoover said.
Despite low numbers on their first few days open.... Hoover remains optimistic.
"I think it's just going to take some time, but, the Old Market is the Old Market. You know, it's just being patient until things get going again,” Hoover said.
