Tuesday night was more than just any ordinary summer night – it was a chance for many communities in Omaha, surrounding cities and around the nation to reach out to neighbors and local law enforcement to better relations between residents and those who serve them.
Events held around the city featured games, dances, and arts for kids, food, and a lot of community-building. Police officers, firefighters, and local and state government officials also attended the events to make themselves more available to community in a fun atmosphere.
Metro Community Church in South Omaha also used the big turnout to give back to the community. 300 backpacks filled with school supplies were distributed to kids who attended the event.
