The Omaha City Council voted to increase the pardon power of Mayor Jean Stothert Tuesday.
The city's mayor can now pard people convicted of just about any criminal offense under city code, which includes things as miniscule as failing to restrain a dog and trespassing.
The more broad powers, however, do not allow Stothert to pardon someone convicted of breaking felony or Nebraska law.
