Jerell Haynie, 35, was sentenced to seven years in federal prison Monday for racketeering conspiracy involving acts of violence, attempted murder, witness tampering and drug distribution.
Haynie is a member of the Crips Gang.
According to a release, evidence at his February trial said Haynie is a long-standing gang member who engaged in cocaine trafficking and personally committed multiple violent acts, including attempting to kill a fellow gang member. Haynie, along with several other gang members, also attempted to kill a police informant.
