Omaha gets hit with hot temperatures

The scorching heat Omaha experienced on Wednesday will be on repeat on Thursday. The heat index soared past 100 degrees in the Omaha area.

Even with the hot temperatures, many endured the heat and were outside for a good chunk of the evening.

The Farmer's Market in Papillion still had dozens of customers.Tammi Phillips, with Papillion's Parks and Recreation department said they had the fire department on standby in case of any heat exhaustion incidents.

"We've got some great EMTs that have helped trained our staff as well. I'm a certified EMT so it's something that we're aware and make sure that the community is safe first and foremost," said Phillips.

Across town near 33 and Q, 13 and 14-year-olds placed soccer with their PACE program. The teams made sure to take extra water breaks.

The Capitol District downtown hosted its first film in its Summer Movie Series event which showed Casa Blanca. Many sat in the shade and enjoyed the film while sipping on cold beverages and snow cones.
