OMAHA, Neb. (KMTV) — A couple of Junior Girl Scouts are trying to help animals affected by wildfires in Australia.
It's part of their Bronze Award, and Wednesday afternoon they got to meet a real kangaroo.
The girls are sewing sacks for koalas and kangaroos to sleep in. They say the video of the wildfires made them sad and their mom suggested they do something to help.
“They might feel a little more safe because they know their mothers would hold them in a sack or on their back so they feel they would always be protected,” said Junior Girl Scout Maddie Finken.
The girls also created a video about how to sew these pouches. They'll share it with other girl scouts on social media in hopes of more people helping out.
