A gesture by an Omaha Police officer in a group photo has sparked debate on social media and lead to an investigation by the department.
The photo was originally tweeted out on the Omaha Police Department's official Twitter account but people were quick to notice an officer making an upside down "okay" hand sign.
Some noted the gesture is tied to white supremacy groups while others argued its part of the "circle game" and meant to be light-hearted.
Omaha Police tweeted that Chief Todd Schamderer is aware of the concerns and authorized an investigation. The officer in question has said that negative connotations were not his intention. The department apologized and removed the photo.
