As the devastation from Tropical Storm Harvey continues to impact Texas and Louisiana, Omaha is preparing to take in evacuees if they get the call to do so.

While the likelihood of this happening are slim according to some officials, they are prepared, just in case.

"There’s an awful lot of unknowns, so as many things as we can control, we have to be ready," said Phil Rooney, Douglas County Health Department spokesman.

Omaha Housing Authority representatives said they have the authority to take in some families if they decide to evacuate to Omaha.
