OMAHA, Neb. (KMTV) — For more than six decades, members of the Omaha Professional Fire Fighters have participated in the Fill the Boot Campaign in an effort to support the Muscular Dystrophy Association's (MDA) mission to find a cure. Amid the ongoing pandemic, members are changing how they collect donations.

Instead of posting members at intersections around town and other places, with a boot to collect funds, the Omaha Professional Fire Fighters are asking to donate virtually by visiting https://filltheboot.donordrive.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=donorDrive.participant&participantID=3626 or by texting Boot to 24325 in an effort to prevent the spread.

“For six decades, Omaha Fire Fighters have been at intersections and storefronts with their fire boots to collect donations for MDA,” says Local 385 President Steve LeClair. “But the COVID pandemic and social distancing make that an impossibility. Virtual Fill the Boot will let our members continue to collect to help MDA meet their vital mission of finding treatment and cures for muscular dystrophy, ALS and other neuromuscular diseases.”
