OMAHA, Neb. (KMTV) - Police are investigating another shooting on L Street just hours after a deadly one happened near 60th and L streets Monday afternoon.
At around 11 p.m. Monday, officers arrived to Bizarre Tobacco and Accessories near 40th and L streets.
Crews rushed a man to the hospital with extremely critical injuries, while investigators continue to search for another person. At 9:36 a.m., Omaha Police issued a release that the shooting victim had died. The victim was identified as 18-year-old Jose Maria Velazquez.
Police say the gunshots came from a store employee, who fired at two suspects who attempted to rob the store.
On Tuesday afternoon, Douglas County Attorney Don Kleine said there is still a police investigation underway but looking at the preliminary investigation, the shooting was justified. Kleine said he will wait for the investigation to be complete before he makes his decision on charges.
