A hundred OPS students beat the heat Friday by taking a fishing adventure.
Summer school students spent the morning focusing on academics before heading out to Halleck Park.
The students worked with instructors to learn the new hobby.
Principal Abbie Vlcek told KMTV that it's more than just a chance to get the kids moving
"Helping provide students who don't have a chance to be a leader in an academic setting really step out and maybe even finding some hidden talents,” she said.
The Nebraska fishing instructors donated 15 fishing poles to the program which will be raffled off to kids on their best behavior.
