The Omaha Public Schools Board of Education Accountability Committee met Friday to discuss Interim Superintendent applicants for the role of Superintendent.

After a 3 to 1 vote, the committee recommends keeping the district's current leader, Mark Evans for the 2017-18 school year and until his replacement is found.

The full board will vote on recommendations for contract negotiations on Monday, April 17th.

The committee also recommended by a 3 to 1 vote that none of the applicants for Interim Superintendent be selected as finalists.

"This decision was made in part due to Mr. Evans' recent sharing of his personal position with the Board of Education this past Tuesday, April 11, in order to provide stability to staff and the 52,000 students in this district," said Board President Lacey Merica.
