One person found poetry in the city of Papillion’s efforts to keep the streets clear after a Christmas Eve snow storm.
Papillion city leaders took to social media to share a poem that was sent anonymously praising the snow clearing crews.
“Through the years, our Mayor’s Hotline has received thousands of comments and complaints, but none more memorable than this one, which was submitted anonymously over the holidays,” the city wrote in a Facebook post, which included an image of the poem.
Read it below:
"Was the morning of Christmas
And I couldn't sleep
Are the kids going to make it
It's starting to sleetWhen all of a sudden there was a clang & a clatter
When I looked outside
That no longer matteredFor what did I see
Were the tireless, the few
Our streets were being cleaned
By a great city crewNow people complain
And sometime protest
But give them a break
They're doing their bestMy family will make it
All happy & safe
I know why I live in a wonderful placeWhen the season has changed
And the sky's turn to blue
Will you remember
This great city crewI support these employees
Whenever I can
Now I know why
We're in the top ten"
