Papillion to fix plow damage

Posted

The city of Papillion wants people to know before you go out trying to fix damages on your own if their plow trucks did it, they say they've got your back.

A Papillion resident who does not want to be identified says a snowplow removed more than just snow.

"My mailbox is gone, it's gone."

She came home to find her mailbox in pieces, just after her streets were plowed.

"I had to go through the experience of finding someone to put in a mailbox for me and calling two to three different creditors asking did you get my payment?"

She had no idea all she had to do was call the city of Papillion which would take care of the damage.

"I just took care of it on my own, I did what I thought I needed to do."

"Cause I needed to receive my mail."

Papillion City Spokesman Trent Albers says plow drivers can cause damage while plowing due to low visibility and slick roads.

"Scrapping grass, and every once in awhile a mailbox does get hit by a plow," said Trent Albers.

Albers says if that happens call the city or the mayor's hotline.

"Just let us know we will confirm with you that we got you message and put you on a list," said Albers.

Albers says mailboxes will be replaced right away and other damage to curbs and yards will be repaired in the spring.

"I didn't know I could do that and had I known I certainly would have done that."
