OMAHA, Neb (KMTV) — Top Republicans from Nebraska speak out against House Speaker Nancy Pelosi before her appearance at a Democratic Fundraiser.

They say her attention is on the impeachment probe and because of that she's hurting Nebraska farmers. However, she says Democrats can multi-task

Pelosi met with roughly 1,000 Nebraska Democrats at their annual fundraiser in downtown Omaha.

Of the various issues discussed, women in politics was a focal point.

"For the first time in history, we have over 100 women in the House of Representative. This is the first time," Pelosi said.

Meanwhile. Nebraska Republicans held a conference of their own, stating Pelosi is more focused on raising money and impeaching the President than scheduling a vote for the United States - Mexico - Canada Agreement.

"The whole reason she is not scheduling the vote is because of politics," Sen. Ben Sasse said. "Nancy needs to schedule the vote now. She should take time off her socialist fundraising efforts to go back to DC and schedule this vote."

"It really is about just playing hardball with the President and bringing it on the floor," Rep. Don Bacon said. "I think they are trying to get some more Democrats on board affirmed or confirmed - but this passes right now with 40-50 votes today. It should be done and it hurts the entire Midwest by just holding out."

According to the Office of the United States Trade Representatives, the USMCA would benefit North American farmers, ranchers and businesses. The deal still requires a vote by Congress.

Despite pressure from Republicans Pelosi says the Democratic Party can legislate and investigate. However, at Saturday night's fundraiser, it was all about rallying her party for 2020.

In regards to the USMCA, Democrats are seeking assurances that Mexico and Canada will be able to enforce labor standards intended to protect US manufacturing jobs.
