Pflug Road repairs taking longer than expected

A longer than expected construction project on Pflug Road near the Holy Family Shrine has caused challenges for months.

The road repairs were originally scheduled to start in April, but got delayed until the end of May. This caused the chapel, which relies solely on donations, to see a 20 percent decrease in visitors. Getting to the shrine now requires a two mile detour.

"I think they have pretty good signage along the road if you were to take the normal route out to the shrine. They have signs on which roads to take. It's about two miles out of the way," Bridget Chatterson with the Holy Family Shrine said.

The roads are expected to reopen in 3-4 weeks depending on the weather.
