Police say a burglary suspect went to the hospital and later died after an overnight incident.
Investigators said the man tried to steal from a towing company at 66th and C streets, but when he was caught he ended up going to the hospital to be treated for an unkown health issue.
A neighboring business owner went out to the scene when he heard of the reported theft.
"We've had a lot of thefts lately. We think it has a lot to do with the cars here. That is dragging a lot of people looking for parts for the cars, stealing stuff," said Chris Christensen, of Christensen Excavating Company.
He said there were a handful of thefts in the area last year, prompting him to install a camera system.
"We've caught them on all the cameras. They come up from the sidewalk trail. They drive up. They steal stuff. Or they walk up, park up the trail and we see them coming and going at night," said Christensen.
He has also hired a security guard to patrol the area at night.
[Editor's Note: A previous report of the suspect suffering a heart attack has not been confirmed. Authorities say the suspect suffered a medical issue.]
